This year is the 10th year of 13 Nights of Halloweens. I cannot believe I have been doing this for a decade!
To celebrate such a momentous year I have chosen this years theme to be Star Wars!!
I am so excited about the new movie. It looks so good.
This series is not speed paintings, they are full finished paintings. Don't give me more credit than is due.
I am not sure what I thought I was going to accomplish 10 years ago when I started this. I just wanted to see if I could be successful making 2D art. I could not say what I thought success was then. I am sure it involved me working freelance or for myself. I can say I accomplished bits and pieces of that here and there. What I found enjoyable for me was imagining myself as a a kid and going back in time and showing my younger self these pictures. I think the kid would have been impressed.
I may not hold a torch to many of the illustrators working today. But I think I have been successful making artwork much like the art I enjoyed as a kid.
That gives me a great sense of accomplishment.
So thanks again for joining me for another year. This maybe the last one
But it has been memorable. Every year something new and fun
Cheers

Only a few designs up so far but new ones with be popping up from day to day.
I like making t-shirts I think some of my designs work really well on t-shirts.
I am hoping to create some new designs rather than just porting over my old artwork. That said if there is some art in my gallery you want to see me publish on a t-shirt let me know.

13 Nights of Halloween 2014 Trick or Treat!
Well it looks like a year since I posted my last journal.
Not very good at journal posts.
My life has been a crazy ride of ups and downs in 2014. I was laid off, unemployed for awhile, did some freelance, got a new job and picked up the family and relocated.
But enough of that.
I am excited to once again announce the 9th annual 13 Nights of Halloween!
This years theme is "TRICK OR TREAT: You never know what is at the door"
This is going to be a mish mash of characters and paintings I have been wanting to do. So you never know what you are going to get.
Once again thanks for everyone sticking with me. 13 Nights of Halloween started here
13 Nights of Halloween 2013
It's that time of year again people. It's October and that means a new installment of 13 Nights of Halloween.
I have a lot of new followers so let me explain the basic premise.
Starting October 19th til Halloween I will be posting an new art image once a day based on a theme I pick every year.
This year, to honor a creative genius we lost this past year, I will be doing,
THE FANTASTIC MONSTERS OF RAY HARRYHAUSEN!
13 Nights for the 1st couple of years was a series of speed paintings.
Last year I spent many hours on each piece and this year is no different
I just felt speed paintings could not do honor and justice to the amazing library of w
RIP Ray Harryhausen
To say Ray Harryhausen's work had a strong influence on my imagination is a huge understatement.
Before there was Star Wars there was Jason and his Argonauts. There was Sinbad and his 7th Voyage and the eye of the tiger.
Lets not forget Clash of the Titans with that amazing Medusa scene.
The very believable personality of Mighty Joe Young.
I could go on and on.
He was a creative giant and his influence on VFX work in cinema is unmatched.
His skill and dedication was astounding. One man creating movie shots that Hollywood would now give to entire teams of people to get the same shots
He was a masterful storyteller as well.
I wanted to
