13 Nights 2009 Jason Voorhees

Ok I am not going to lie to you. After the amazing response to the Dracula post yesterday I was really afraid that I had "Jumped the Shark" on this years 13 Nights. I really had a chill of fear and self doubt in picking the next image.I know that Dracula was one of the best in the series but there are others I really like as well, so I push on.
Today is Jason. This was a radical learning piece and it is very important in the series. I have had a tendency to almost draw rather than paint the details in much of my work. I challenged myself in this piece to stick to more of a paintbrush style rather than going with a more opaque and graphic tool. There is a great sense of play in the layers of paint on the mask,it also helps give a gritty look.
